There may be changes coming to some interactive stories in the coming weeks or months. It seems to me that readers enjoy some of the interactivity; there was pushback when I considered making GB1996 into a normal story, and there have been requests for other interactive/voting stories since.
Unfortunately, I've put myself in a bad situation: interactive stories are the most difficult for me to keep up with because I have to do them a little bit at a time. I can't sit down and get ahead on them like I can with other stuff. That's fine to a point, but with several different ones going, it becomes a bit of a chore. I've made a very adult decision that I'm extremely proud of and stopped irresponsibly starting new ones, so that is a step in the right direction. Unfortunately, I have a lot of ideas and want to do new ones sometimes. But I don't want to end the ones we have going; they are getting good and it seems like readers are enjoying them.
So my thought is that instead of turning interactive stories linear or ending them, I will have them periodically shift in and out of being interactive. They would keep going, advancing the story, and choices would resume at some point, but it would free me up to play around with other ideas, at least a little while readers would still get content uninterrupted.
So you can expect a few of those stories that always end with [ Open ] to end with something else from time to time. Don't worry; SSS won't change format in the immediate future. It might go to twice a week at some point, but not yet.
